My 1st Day at Intel Jones Farm

8th November 2010, this is the first day I started my new job in a whole new place: Intel Jones Farm 4.

I was a bit nervous and kind of blur blur due to my jet lag previous night. (I thought I won’t be jet lag because I used to sleep late, but in fact NO, I was seriously jet lagging…) Not really having enough sleep. Anyway, I wake up at 6am and started to prepare everything for my work. Today, I happily using the kitchen to prepare my breakfast, tada! Here it is: a hot mint chocolate (to replace Milo), and bread with peanut butter. 😛 hahaha, basically I just use the stove to boil the water. Well, surprisingly the mint chocolate was very nice! i like the mint flavor, hehe.

二零一零年十一月八日，今天就是我在英特爾Jones Farm的開始我新的工作的第一天。我其實有點緊張，也有點恍惚，因為昨天還在時差的狀況中，沒什麼睡好。今天六點起來，準備了我的早餐，嘻嘻，就是這圖片中的薄荷巧克力和花生醬麵包！那巧克力還真的蠻好喝哦！薄荷味的，蠻特別，我就是喜歡薄荷味的，嘻嘻。

大概七時十分左右，我的同事就來載我了，我們決定要共車去上班，那樣會比較省每個月的油費。我們到公司的時候，已經是七時三十分。其實，如果我們不是去錯地方的話，應該只需五到十分鐘就到了，嘻嘻，我們去了JF3的分棟，然後後來才發現其實在JF3也可以到JF4，我們還傻傻駕車四處找呢，哈哈。不過，在我們的隊中，我們還是最早到公司的人，畢竟是星期一，大多數人都會比較遲到的，就連我們的經理也不例外。我們在那裡閒逛了一下子，等到了八點多，才看到了我們的企劃隊長。第一映像還算不錯，蠻親切和友善的，好像很好相處，也很有經驗，已經在公司十二年了。經過一番介紹和了解，我們也沒什麼做了，一整天就只有下午三點的會議而已。

Around 7.10am, my colleague came to fetch me. We agreed to carpool so that we can save the cost for our car’s fuel. We reached office at around 7.30am. In fact, we should have reached there earlier, because it is just a 5-8min journey from our house to office, but we found the wrong building JF3 eventually, which it took us some time to notice that we can actually goto JF4 using JF3 as well. 😛 Anyway, we were still the earliest among the team, because even our manager was not there yet. So, we just wandering around there and waited till like 8.30am. (Yea, it was a Monday, nobody was gonna reach there so early I guessed.) Then the team lead was finally there, he contacted us and we met up. First impression, he is a nice guy, friendly, easy-going, and pretty much experiences as he already been 12years in Intel. Nothing much to do for the 1st day, except a meeting in the evening to sync up stuffs.

接下來，我們也收到了訊息，知道我們的上頭經理將不會在早上出現了。他吩咐了秘書安排了我們的座位，所有東西我們就這樣自己搞定了。不過，我們的座位是在三樓的兩人廂，而他們的是在二樓，所以變成我們每次都要走下去樓下和他們開會。其實都還好啦，只是沒想到在這裡我們兩個還是坐在一起工作。=.=

Next, we received an email from our new reporting manager, that he’s not gonna be there in the morning, so we can just help ourself by asking the admin which place we should be stationed at. However, the admin was not there as well until 9.30am. And, we finally got our cubicle after that. Well, it was a 2-peoples cubicle at level 3. So, that means we have to share the cubicle, which we sit back to back. 🙁 And, FYI, the team was all in level 2 except us. =.= So, we’ll have to walk down to level 2 for all the meetings and stuffs.

再接下來，我們其實也乘空閒的時間，解決了所有文件上的事情，那些都是公司規定的移民局手續，所以必須解決了才能夠在這裡工作和拿到薪金。過後，在下午的時候，我們也去了JF5那裡享用了午餐，我之前也放上了照片。在過後不久，當我們在座位廂中做東西時，突然跑出了一個人，很熱情的想我們介紹他自己。沒錯，他就是我們在這裡的經理。他很興奮，有點讓我出乎意料，臉帶著很友善的笑容，告訴我們他很期待我們的來到，也很興奮能夠看到我們加入他們的企劃一起工作。他，有點像以色列人的感覺，雖然以第一映像而言，我應該很放心，但是就是覺得有點過於客套了吧，所以也沒什麼在意了。我想我的主要目的就是在這裡好好工作，盡本分做好自己應該做的，儘量學習，那已經算是很不錯了。其他的所謂＂政治＂問題，我就不管那麼多了。:)

Anyway, we basically just setup everything there by our own. Then, we just complete our relocation stuff as well so that we won’t have any issue with our immigration process. Then, lunch time, we had our lunch at the cafeteria, which I had shared earlier. 🙂 Then, suddenly after the lunch not long, someone just pop up at our cube, introducing himself. And yea, he is our manager here. Surprisingly, he was quite friendly, showing himself to be very excited with our arrival. Well, I don’t really care how and what he’s going to do with us, after all I am only there for 1 year. 😛 So, I’ll just do my job and do my best. 🙂 That’s it.

好了，基本上在三點的會議結束以後，我們就算總結了我們在公司的第一天！好像很容易，很閒空是嗎？哈哈，其實我也算是蠻痛苦的，因為在下午時段，我的時差讓我覺得很累，所以唯有靠不停走動來紓解睡意。不過，我相信在今天晚上我將會有很好的睡眠，嘻嘻。。。

Well, after the evening meeting from 3-5pm. That basically sums up our very 1st day in office. 🙂 Seems to be quite easy huh. 😛 In fact, it was quite tiring because I am still jet lagging. But I believed I’ll be at very good sleep that night, and yes I was. 🙂
